People, Places, Stories.
I work in clay to make sense of what’s hard to name—longing, change, the feeling of being in-between. My sculptures trace inner landscapes shaped by memory, touch, and the desire to belong.
“I always felt particularly connected to places. Maybe even more so than people or ideas. For every memory or longing I have, there’s usually a specific location attached to it. The sites I use for inspiration in my work are usually very remote and inaccessible. By reproducing them in small scale and full of tactile textures, I make them more approachable than their namesakes.
For me touch is a very rich and immediate sensory modality. I perceive tactile information acutely and it helps to ground me in the present moment. That’s why I pay such thorough attention to surface finishes.”
