Mediterraneo

From July 13 to October 6, 2024, Grottaglie (TA) will host a new edition of the prestigious event dedicated to ceramic art - XXXI Competition of Contemporary Ceramics “Mediterraneo”.

My work - Collision.03., has been selected as a finalist in the competition and will be on view in the Ceramics Museum until October.

Last week I traveled to the south of Italy, to the ceramic town of Grottaglie for an opening of the exhibition. It was an amazing event where I got to meet so many international artists and see their works up close.

“Once again, ceramic art is set to amaze with the opening of applications for the XXXI Contemporary Ceramic Competition “Mediterraneo.” From July 13 to October 6, 2024, the city of Grottaglie, the beating heart of Apulian ceramic craftsmanship, will welcome artists from all over the world, offering them the opportunity to express their vision of the Mediterranean through unique and innovative creations.

Now in its thirty-first edition, the Competition is confirmed as an internationally significant event, ready to celebrate the excellence of contemporary ceramic art. The Municipality of Grottaglie, promoter of this extraordinary event, is preparing to welcome works that tell stories of history, culture, and tradition, intertwining historical, cultural, naturalistic, and social elements in a fascinating artistic journey through the Mediterranean.

In recent years, the Contemporary Ceramic Competition "Mediterraneo" has established itself as a steadily rising event in the contemporary art scene. Founded in 1971 in Grottaglie, one of the most renowned ceramic cities in the world, this competition pays homage to ceramic craftsmanship, an essential element of the city's historical identity. Every year, artists and ceramists from all corners of the globe converge on this splendid location, transforming the earth into authentic works of art and enriching the cultural fabric of the local community.”
